DroidDeck FAQ & troubleshooting

Answers aggregated from community discussions (r/EmulationOnAndroid, r/OdinHandheld), the official repository and press coverage.

DroidDeck won't install or the runtime fails to download — what now?

Confirm your device has an Adreno GPU (see the device list). On unsupported GPUs the runtime will fail. Also check you have ~3 GB free and are on stable Wi-Fi; the runtime download is large.

Games crash or get killed after a few minutes.

The most common cause is Android's phantom process killer. Enable Developer Options and raise the process limit, or run the adb command from our install guide (step 5).

Steam is very slow to start.

Update to v0.3.0 or newer — Steam startup was reduced from ~31 seconds to ~6 seconds.

My controller buttons are wrong or gyro doesn't work.

v0.3.0 added native Steam Input with Steam Deck controller emulation. Open Steam's controller settings inside DroidDeck and re-check the layout; make sure you're not using an old external mapper alongside it.

Can I use my existing Steam library?

Yes — DroidDeck signs into your own Steam account. Only games whose Windows builds run under ARM64 Proton will work. v0.4.0 also added GOG and Epic Games Store integration.

Does DroidDeck work on Samsung/Google/OnePlus phones?

Only Snapdragon variants with Adreno 730+ (8 Gen 1 and newer). Exynos Galaxy models, Google Pixel (Tensor) and Dimensity devices are not supported. Check the devices page.

Is DroidDeck safe? Is it a virus?

DroidDeck is open source — the code is public on GitHub. Only download APKs from the official repository releases page; repackaged APKs from mirror sites carry real risk.

Does DroidDeck need an internet connection?

Initial setup and Steam login need internet. After games are installed, play is local — that's the point of DroidDeck vs streaming.
